These workshops are great ....... learn how tie flies, share fishing stories, laugh a lot. Open to all levels (even novice, all thumbs like me). Tables organized by experience level, led by pros from United Fly Tyers of RI. 5-6 club members participating now. All materials provided, leave with 1-2 pretty nice flies. Good stuff!

This fly tying workshop is always a great time. Anyone interested in any kind of tying (bucktails, teaser hooks, flies) should take the class next fall.

Yep, definitely want to go. Put it on calendar for now, will have to see what's going on as we get closer to the date.
Also, was at Fin & Feather today and heard that Ed Lombardo will be leading a fly tying demonstration there on Wednesday, January 9, 6:30pm - 8:30pm. He'll be demonstrating tying 4-5 flies and discussing how best to use them. No tying by attendees.

Checked out United Fly Tyers group this week - UFTRI.org. Meetings are same format as workshops in NK - meet people who love fly fishing, learn to tie flies in a fun environment the 1st Wed of the month. Dues, if I recall correctly, are $35/year and all tools/materials for fly tying are provided by the club. This Wednesday I came home with 6 new flies (Estaz Shrimp patterns of various colors) - five I made and 1 from the instructor --- and it's not challenging to pick out the one from the instructor!!!
There's also Rhody Fly Rodders, but their meetings are same night as ours every month.

The Bear's Den Expo is great! Our own Steve Cook is usually there tying. Lots of great raffles. It can get crowded..!

This one's on my calendar. Never been there, this looks like a lot of fun. May take in the videos at one of the CT venues with my sons but, if not able to do that, will get there by 10:00am to view them there.
